Insurance Auditors & Consultants
Ian Reid
I was recruited to London General to lead the Claims operation with responsibility to design and implement claims strategies to support Bloodstock, Solicitors PI and Irish Contractors Liability. Claims were outsourced and as such I had to develop claims reporting protocols, delegated authority limits and audit programmes.
I joined the Company as a greenfield site to head up the claims operation together with introducing new provincial business into the London Market.
I established cost effective, service-oriented claims handling regimes across all portfolios either through outsourcing or in person.
I developed claims data capture and as part of the Senior Management team, liaised closely with Underwriters in development and refinement of new and existing business.
I established controls, audit and review procedure of outsourced business.
(Hodge General & Mercantile became Westgate Insurance Co in 1981, which, in turn, adopted the AXA name in 1989)
I rose through the ranks of the Claims Department to become Motor Claims Manager in 1987 and overall Claims Manager in 1993.
I managed some 100 staff and was responsible for providing quality, effective, customer focused claims handling across all portfolios: Motor, Liability, Household and Commercial Property.
I managed a major departmental restructure, implemented and developed a new claim notification and accident management call- centre.
I developed statistical claims data analysis methodologies, was responsible for reserve accuracy together with personally handling all large losses and liaising with Reinsurers.
